Baltimore Crab Cakes

1 lb. crab meat
1 egg, well beaten
1 slice bread, crust removed
1/4 tsp. red peper
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 Tb. salt
red pimento (optional)
2 tb. mayonnaise

Break bread into very small pieces and add egg.
Combine all other ingredients, then add crab meat and toss lightly.
Form into small cakes and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
Serve with saltines. Serves 6 to 8.
